Toorak House
A two storey heritage-listed stone villa constructed by Petrie between 1865 for Brisbane businessman James Dickson.
Toorak House is a significant two-story sandstone dwelling, showcasing Gothic influences and lavishly adorned interiors. Toorak was constructed using stone sourced from the nearby Petrie quarries at Albion. Its steeply pitched shingle roofs add to its grandeur, while a single-story brick and corrugated iron wing extends from the rear. Surrounded by meticulously maintained gardens featuring mature trees and well-kept flower beds, the house is prominently positioned atop Hamilton Hill, offering expansive views. Toorak House was listed on the Queensland Heritage Register on 2 March 1994.
